USP & Tradition
THE WHITE EDITION OF
THERESIA HAUER® CHOCOLATE BALLS.
The praline sensation of the 19th century:
A nougat center,
surrounded by marzipan,
preferably with a white chocolate coating.
The greatest success for Theresia Hauer’s nougat-marzipan pralines comes from her innovative white chocolate glaze—a signature creation that established her as a pioneer:
the ORIGINAL LIPIZZAN® CHOCOLATE BALL.
„It´s Chocolate, and it comes in a Hat“
In the 19th century, they were delivered in hatboxes.
The current design is a reminder of this.
THE AUTHENTIC
NOUGAT-MARZIPAN PRALINE
SINCE 1850
The story behind Theresia Hauer® Chocolate Balls and Original Lipizzan® Chocolate Balls (Theresia Hauer® Chocolate Balls with white chocolate glaze) is equally interesting:
Until 1850, the production of pralines involved coating nuts or fruits in chocolate. These pralines, common at the time, melted quickly when exposed to heat.
This prompted Theresia Hauer to place a nougat center inside and encase it in marzipan, resulting in a praline that is comparatively more heat-stable. She creates the outer shell using two layers.
As a pioneer of white chocolate, she also chose a white chocolate coating for one version—much like the one used on her chocolate cakes, the Original Lipizzan® Cakes.
In this way, pioneer Theresia Hauer developed the recipe for the nougat-marzipan praline. With its white chocolate coating, it acquired the name of what would later become our international brand-name product:
the Original Lipizzan® Chocolate Balls.
To this day, the family-owned company LECONTE CHOCOLATIERS® is proud to be a pioneer of the nougat-marzipan praline.
And the success of this recipe—whether with dark chocolate coating (THERESIA HAUER® CHOCOLATE BALLS or white chocolate coating (ORIGINAL LIPIZZAN® CHOCOLATE BALLS), or as the large dark MOZARTCHÜGELI® treat—endures to this day in our international distribution.
